Ethanol producers benefit from a plethora of tax credits, outright subidies, and regulatory mandates, enacted by both Federal and State policymakers. Here are two sources that should be in every porkologist’s reference library.
The California Energy Commission’s 2004 report, Ethanol Fuel Incentives Applied in the U.S.: Reviewed from California’s Perspective, reviews dozens of Federal and State ethanol policies and programs.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center features an interactive map on its Web site that allows you to click on any State and find a list of all “laws and incentives related to alternative fuels and vehicles, air quality, fuel efficiency, and oher transportation-related topics.” Information is updated annually after each state’s legislative session ends.
