Weisser’s worry is that demand for biofuels is raising the price of crops and having unintended consequences for food supplies. He estimates that 60 per cent of rapeseed in Europe is being converted into biodiesel. This has led food companies to import palm oil, which is less healthy for people than vegetable oil.
