While America’s fuel demand is now becoming dependent on an annual corn crop, … rain and floods are slowing the pace of that very crop. 

Tens of thousands of cropland acres were forced under water by recent flooding along the Missouri River.

The ag statistics service says spring tillage is 74 percent complete, about three weeks behind last year and two weeks behind the norm of 84 percent complete.

Every week delayed is a potential problem for our motor fuel supplies in the coming year.
